It's one of Bill Clinton's favorite political expressions:

When you see a turtle on a fence post, you know it didn't get there by itself. It doesn’t belong there. You wonder who put it there.

And now, you'll know, it’s not about the turtle!

Inspired by true events, Turtle fictionalizes the inside story of a prominent New Yorker thrown into an unknown world by New York’s most powerful man. At heart a vibrant tale of love and friendship, Turtle uses humor and song to deal with themes of freedom, forgiveness and truth, revealing how meaningful learning can arise in the most unexpected places and from the most surprising sources.

This work is dedicated to the eleven courageous women who survived sexual harassment and stood up to New York’s most powerful man, to the inmates wrongly incarcerated and illegally denied parole, and to the memory of nursing home victims who died of Covid-19.

“Turtle” is a fictionalized story inspired by true events. Names have been changed to protect the innocent and the guilty. The author does not deny, either directly or indirectly, any provision or statement of his Plea Agreement or Stipulation of Permanent Injunction with the State of New York, and any impression that either is without factual basis is unintended, disavowed, and denied.
